Cant do for two good reasons
1) my legs are too short
2) the multistrada is fugly (imho)
I have the same height issue, plus I also can't stand the way Adventure bikes look. I owned a Monster 1200 until recently and couldn't understand why Ducati didn't make many Touring accessories for it, including a good-looking small fairing, not that silly instrument panel "bikini" protector.

For your needs and tastes you might consider the new Ducati SS model.

I have had the pleasure to ride a MultiStrada S for over 300km on various surfaces and can categorically state that it's the ultimate "does it all" road warrior...from commuting to long distances and most everything in between. Leg reach was not an issue and I'm not tall either at maybe 5'9 on a low gravity day. Although the MultStrada does not have the "badass" look of a Monster or the "sexiness" of a Panigale, it does look cool for what it is IMHO, especially the Peak edition.

I just checked the SW-Motech site and they have the Blaze system for the R. It's the same soft bags like the S Model but the bag holders seem to attach to the new passenger pegs support on the R instead of the sub-frame of the S. Below is the link to the site, you can see that's the R they're using to show the product. It's a simple system but it works well if you are not planning to carry too much stuff. Hope it helps.

I may not be much help, but RevZilla is a really great website to shop for motorcycle parts and gear. They have excellent customer service. Call them! I've bought a lot from them, including a tail bag that looks and works really good. I just need to modify the attachments for it to make an easier on/off. They're really great.

I've got the Blaze bags on my S. I like 'em a lot. When you remove them, there's very little evidence of the mounting system.

So, 2 weeks through the alps with your wife on a monster. Don't you like her?

Seriously dude, hire a bike with luggage capacity. Wayyyyyy cheaper than a divorce.

And all the comments above re the Multistrada are correct. It's butt ugly, but also a capable 2 up long distance tourer that can scratch with the best of them. And you can hire them.......

I'm using Wolfman Luggage, you can use it with or without a rack...the rack in the pictures is the Ventura rack...

The tail bag is the Beta plus rear Bag, the tank one is the Blackhawk... After 5000 mile with the bags, i still love them, for sure it's not as quick to install and remove as hard shell stuff, but it does a good job! Don't forget to get the rain cover for the extra protection...

Ive used Kriega on previous bikes, and have the straps in place on my 1200R. I find I could go 30L at a push (sideways) but generally the 20L seems preferable.. as there really is not much room at the tail of the 1200R. Swinging a leg over (if you are on and off the bike regularly is a bit of a pain.... as is getting stuff outa the bags (tank bag or backpack good here).

Does anyone have pics of the Kriega "Combo'd" together like they do in their marketing pics. Im wondering what two 10L's bolted either side of the 20L would sit on the 1200R tail??

Ive an evotech tail-tidy which locates the indicators under the brake light.. so some bags dont work well with this setup.

I was looking at panniers also...
Hepco & Becker seem well made, bags can lock to the CBow Bracket.. about 10mins to remove bracket from the bike.
SW MOtech are great but wonder if they would rub the paint with that velcro thingie. I do like their ability to grab both bags with one hand and carry your luggage easily. Also the support bars remove within a minute so very easy to de-tour your setup.
Both are about the same price over here in the UK. I think quality of these two is similar?

The big velcro strap on the SW Motech Blaze bags is soft on the bottom. I haven't had any scratch issues. Actually, I end up just putting it under the seat to keep the bags from being heisted.:wink

Great to know, was wondering if I would need to protect the area below the seat.
Shame the seat cowel has to unscrew, be nice if it was a clip off jobbie.

Thanks for the tip on security.. I actually did do a search to see if there was an easy method to secure the bags, as a quick fuel stop and they could be easily lifted!

I run the seat at the highest setting because I have an alarm under the seat. I leave enough slack in the big velcro strap so that when I put the seat on the slack is taken up the right amount for the bags to sit properly. I don't have any issue with this setup latching the seat.

Make sure you have the support bar mounts on the correct side; I did this wrong the first time. The piece you press to release them is actually going to end up upside down if they are on correctly in order for the support bars to be at the correct angle.

Yes I think i got the support bars right eventually

the clips are upside down as you say


I think it is because i have standard exhausts - when the strap goes over the seat it is high enough to lift the right bag away from the exhaust.
When it goes under the seat (and over the grab rail) it sits lower and touches the top of the exhaust :(

That is strange as I too have the stock exhaust. If I can get a few moments this week, I will pull the cover off the bike (it's currently snowing here :frown) and put the bags on to see if I can figure out what is happening.
