I am looking to get a seat cowl for my 03 matte black 800, but all the ones I see are either red, gloss black, or carbon fiber. I would like to avoid putting any c/f on my bike if at all possible (not counting exhaust), and obviously gloss black would look a little odd with matte black.

my goal is to get a corse stripe decal kit (rather than getting a paint job), and having a pin-striped seat cowl really completes the look. If anyone can point me in the right direction of finding one of these, I would greatly appreciate it.

p.s. what do you guys/gals think would look better on matte black: silver corse stripes or white?

hmmm good question. havn't seen a matte black seat cowl... I'd get one if I could find one.

as for the color choice: I think silver would look good. nothing too shiny (like Mylar...), but a matte silver-gray would be cool.

yea i saw a "matte" silver decal kit on ebay, and in the description they said they also have white, which prompted the question. maybe i can load a pic of the bike into paint shop pro 8 and "draw" the stripes onto everything and see how the colors compare.

I remember seeing an unpainted seat cover somewhere - I can't remember right now, but I'll check through my bookmarks when I get home. You could just have it painted to match. I say white stripe with the matte black. I think super-subtle red pinstripes with the white corse stripe would be extra saucy.

get one of any color off E-bay and paint it. Cheap. People on this board have even had good luck with some spraycans.

as for color, i just realized i should try to match the silver DUCATI logo on the side of my tank. white with gloss black would look best, but matte black (more charcoal it seems) with a white stripe and silver writing on the side seems a little off i guess. to the spareshack!

They have unfinished seat covers in the Ducati Performance book or at www.azsbk.com. You could just paint one with flat black spraypaint too. I was looking into it too for my bike but in matte silver.
