Patient of mine was on a ride over the weekend. It was supposed to be one of those 5 day over the top really fun rides with friends.
The leader and organizer, (not my patient) Dennis Rigg, at 9:30 Sunday morning, was going about 60 on his St4S, a buck decides to suddenly appear in the road. There was no chance for evasive maneuver. He hit the buck in his hind quarters and Dennis died on the scene.
This accident was not at night. We are talking a fresh rider in the morning. The rider was very experienced. Dennis was about 60, according to stats, your survivability rate post impact goes down dramatically after 35. It was just random, no way to prevent.
