Hi,
I have a 1995 M900 with the 2 wire alternator which has the starter clutch slipping problem. A sprag repalcement seems in order.

I understood that the 2 wire alternator series of belt drive Ducatis had the same starter arrangement as the later bevels and that a SKF sprag bearing could replace the OEM. I purchased one of these from Bevel Heaven but whilst the diameters of the inner and outer bearing surfaces appear correct, the SKF bearing is to deep to allow the retaining circlip to go back on.

Has anyone experienced this probelm before and if so could you give any ideas re a solution?

Abandoned using the SKF part and decided to go with a KTM part instead.

KTM part 5844002600 is an exact replacement for the original Ducati sprag (part Number 70140011A) for my 1995 M900 with the blue painted (2 wire alternator). This may have more general application on other bikes.

Cases all zipped up and starting /run functions exactly as expected.

Another great money saving tip from the web!
