Please can you give me your honest opinions...is this loom too close to the cylinder head? It's lying on top of the cam belts casing. The gap between the loom and the head is about 10mm.

I'm asking because two guys on the UKMOC have got me crapping myself, by saying that it's too close, and it's going to melt.

Even if I wrap in it heat resistant tape, do you think its still too close?

My loom runs past the head at about the same place. Wire insulation can take 70-80 deg. C without degrading too quickly. Shouldn't be a problem in northern europe... most days I can't get my oil that hot.

I wouldn't worry about it, the fins on the heads themselves don't get as hot as the rest of it as it is... 10 mm seems fine to me, doesn't touch, good...

Just to be doubly sure though, I'm going to get a hold of a bit of http://www.racepro.co.nz/exhaust.shtm"]Thermal Hose Sleeving (240000)[/URL] ...cut it in two along its length, wrap it around and fasten it with ss thermal ties. Probably totally uneccessary as you say, but hey [laugh]
