Has anyone out there tried the TPO license bracket? They've got them on e-bay for $50 and the "Stealth" model looks pretty sano. I'm one of those hesitant newbies who doesn't yet want to hacksaw my frame rails. Thanks for the input!
I've got one.
worked great, bolted right on.
it's more functional than pretty though, and the finish and paint leave a little to be desired....but once its mounted you'll never notice. (i've got the regular one, the stealth one would be even better)
I love mine. It cleans up the rear of the bike alot. I think the hacked frame rails looks like crap. The bike just stops at the seat, no flow to the lines of the bike at all.
Don't feel cheated when you get the bracket though. Mine was 35 buck with shipping, and for all that I got a bent 55 cent piece of alum.
Just make your own. It's one of the easiest and cheapest homemade mods you can do. I made one out of two strips of 1" x 1/8" aluminum, bent in a vise. I tapped threads into the aluminum and cut the excess bolt length off with a grinder, so nothing sticks out behind the plate. I painted it flat black and you can't even see it.
Yeah, the homemade route is very tempting. TPO is currently asking $50 for their bracket on e-bay, and supafly paid $35. It looks like a finely crafted bit of alloy in their pic, but at $50 it ought to at least make me better at wheelies! Oh that's right, we don't do that on the street
i gots me a tpo. I thought i only paid like 35 for it but................
It sits up so high it can't be seen, since I still got that big ol' tail section stickin' out.
I just made my own out of stainless. It was a little harder than the bend and hack method but will worth it. I just figured steel was the way to go and I wasn't going to pay $40 for powdercoating.
