Some of the SD guys are talking about doing Palomar on Sunday, since they got rained out (for the most part) last weekend. If you haven't ridden Palomar yet, it's some really good stuff.

Anyone interested?

Nick,

We want to read Part II of last week's ride report before you're allowed on this one :D

On a more serious note, took delivery of my new tire today. Dunno yet if I'll be able to mount it in time for Palomar. That, and a bunch of other things that are going on this weekend....

Directions to the Hideout
I'd like preface this by saying that if you're coming from LA it would be easier to just go to Palomar mountain and meet there. But if you do that you will miss out on the S7, which is one of the best roads in these here parts. Your call intrepid traveler.
To the Hideout: Take your favorite shortcut to the 15 or 215 and go south young man, or woman. Go all the way to the 76, which is about 11 miles south of Temecula. Are you feeling the burn yet? Go east on the 76. Now you have a choice; as you pass the S6 going up Palomar you could take it to the top and ride the S7 back down the other side bypassing a large boring chunk of the 76 and "previewing" the ride, or you can truck on past on the 76 and laugh in gleeful anticipation of what's to come. How early you got up and the relationship between you and your seat will likely determine your route. Anyway, if you came down the S7 you'll hang a left to continue east on the 76 and if you stayed on the 76 you'll see the turn for the S7 on the left as you pass by and there will be that urge to laugh again. The sign doesn't say S7, it just says "Palomar Mountain 14 miles". The Hideout is about (I'm not really sure) another three or four miles east and on the right. It's not visible from the road but there's a really big sign that would be practically impossible to miss but hey, whatever. If at this point you're following a Harley it's a good bet he/she/whatever is going to the Hideout. If you get to the intersection with the 79 then turn around and keep your eyes peeled this time! Good luck, and hope to see you guys and gals Sunday.

Intersection of the 60 and 15 freeways is the upper left.

From there it's 60 miles of SuperSlab, 20 miles of hohum road, and then 20 miles of Fabulous Palomar to get to The Hideout.
My estimate is a little under 2 hours total travel time.

We'd have to meet somewhere near the 60/15 intersection at about 8:30 am. If you westsiders are game, I'll get a good meeting spot set up in Norco, gasoline and coffee and such...

Just for the record...
I'll be heading out 76 to the South Grade at 9:30 tomorrow (11-23) from San Marcos with at least one other Duc. Then to meet the rest at the Hideout at 11.

I guess I'm soloing it down from Riverside.

mrg2k, do you want to meet at the 76/15 intersection?

Isn't there a Mobil station there or something?

Yeah, I'm going to meet my friend at that gas station at 10am. If you'd like, that would be cool to head out from there.

Meet you at that Mobil @ 76/15 intersection, 10 am.

Supafly, sorry to hear you're sick, eeven sorrier that you're not coming.

Any LA folks that may become interested, meet me at the Chevron gas station, NorthEast corner of 6th street/15 freeway in Norco, by 8:30 am.

If you want to meet me there, post that you're coming. I'll check this thread in the morning before I leave.

If you don't post, I'm not stopping at that Chevron in Norco.

Catch y'all on the flip-flop.

Well.

The Duc tire is changed, BUT: I picked up an '03 R6 today. The "Special Edition" black with the heinous flames. So I'll spend my Sunday playing with the suspension, changing oil, etc. A tire change might be in order even, the original tires have flat spots the width of my feet (provided I can find a shop that's open on Sundays and stocks my brand).

I wish you all an excellent ride with few cops and many turns. I'm already looking forward to the report :)

Ride safe,

I know, SoCal :D I'm beat though, I have a few long days behind me and one last long night ahead of me so tomorrow I'm aiming to stay in bed until the sun or Calvin the Impatient Boxer Pup wake me up - at least. Then a nice, large breakfast at the French Market cafe with Lissy and Calvin, something other than cold coffee and stale donuts for a change ;D

Don't mean to be a party pooper, y'all know how to have fun without me, I'm sure. Be safe out there, and remember: Sundays & favorite motorcycle roads = THE FUZZ

Happy trails,

Well.....unless there's some last minute action, I'm the lone LA rider.

mrg2k, I'll see you at the Mobil.

SoCalSar, see you at the Hideout.
