Ok this is random but what are people using as a pad under the stand when parked on hot asphalt? Or do most people not care about creating a dent. Just wondering if anyone has any ingenious ideas they would like to share.

A small piece of plywood works for me at home but I'm looking for something that I can put in my pocket and take with me. Right now the best thing I have found is actually an old plastic bracket for an electric sander. It does the job, and fits in my pocket.

Most bike shops sell the small plactic disc that sits on the ground, I always carry a couple as they cost about $3!!

Always have 2, as I usually end up leaving one on the floor when I leave ::)

Lawyers in our area give the round plastic discs out at all bike shows in the area, we always grab a ton of them. Have gotten other metal ones at other bike shows. Even have a "foot" that we got at the bike shows!! The plastic ones usually have a hole in them to attach a string to hook to your bike so when you get on to go you can just pull it up and stuff it in your pocket. I always carry 1 in my bag, one on the bike & 1 in my pocket, just in case!

Scooby..that CF plate is nice! I'd be afraid of someone stealing it though. I have never use one of those stands and I live in AZ! I always park in the shade or on the concrete. If I leave it alone for more than an hour on the HOT asphault, it is going down!

Electrical box cover here. They fit perfect in a jacket front pocket, the round ones also have no sharp points. Can be had for under $1 so losing one is no big deal. You can also paint them if you choose.....

black Harley Davidson pad - has ridges to keep the sui-side stand in the center of the pad - $5.95 at the harley dealership near my buddie's house in Valley Forge, PA.

they couldn't find it in the computer when they rang it up, i asked if it was because it wasn't expensive enough - if i put a "2" in front of the "5", it would prob. show up. :p

cheers!

I have a couple of the ones Chris Kelley sells, a couple that came from an AMA booth, a couple of the rubber Remus ones that they gave away at DRA, and a couple of the J-box covers that Ducati handed out on Ducati Island this year.

When I lived in Phoenix or LV, I had a pickle jar lid that I had on a string so that I could wear it around my neck (kept the bike up on hot asphalt and made me look like a trailer park Flava Flave).

Another good one is the little metal plates that powdercoat samples come on. I've got some of those, and your local powdercoater may have some from either colors no longer available or promo samples from suppliers that he doesn't use.
