Here is what I envisioned and 1 hour with photoshop produced. Thank you to the person who posted the yellow monster without exhaust on the member bikes area.

Anyone ever seen this for real?

Re: just throwing it out there- Monster w/ 999 exh

Very nice. I dream of a setup like that all the time. However, I think with the exhaust as you have envisioned it would eliminate the possibility of taking a passenger. It looks to me that part of the subframe behind the driver's portion of the seat would have to be removed to make room for that superbike exhaust can. Otherwise, with the full frame in there, it wouldn't tuck up high enough. Sigh... we can dream though. Maybe someday when I have more money I can come back to a project like that and make it a reality, as I'm sure it can be done with enough time and $$$. :D

*** EDIT ***

Oh yeah, can you photochop that hugger outa there?

Hahahaha, Whoa what a bike!!!! I never thought my non piped monster could be soo cool. Leave my rear hugger alone you!! If you want it gone so bad why don't you buy me a shorty CF one to put on it yourself!!! :p Its funny because I actually just got an e mail from a guy asking me about how the bike is w/o cans. Now this. That would be cool.

You guys are pissing me off, or maybe my wife. I want that exhaust or at least something close to that tucked way up high underneath. The little chopped mini-guns I have now are the closest thing I 've seen that realy clean up the sides. I like the high mounts but I really like the opened up sides. :)

i don't know...when i see something like that it just looks like you want a superbike but don't want to spend the $... i want one, too, but instead of turning my monster into one, i'll just save up. ;D

Re: just throwing it out there- Monster w/ 999 exh

It was not my intention of duplicating a superbike without the cost, it was more a way of routing the exhaust without breaking the side lines of the Monster. If there were other under seat cans that looked good, I might use those, not necessarily the 999's (although I really like those). I really do not like the look of the www.desmobike.it pics posted, or the other underseat cans I have seen. I think it is the mono-outlet that I don't like, where as the 999 has 2 outlets.

Skier,

My comprehension of Italian doesn't go much past fettucine and pizza, so....can you point us to the other necessary items that go with the underseat exhaust?

I found the can in the parts list, but what about the different seat it looks like it needs, that CF tray, etc?

TIA

Try babel fish! http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr

It allows you to put in a webpage and have it translate it for you! It only does a literal translation, so its not anywhere near perfect... but it can generally give you the info you need.

There isn't much more about what parts you would need that I can find on the site either... It looks like the part is 600 euros? I think the 1 euro is around $1.15 right now, so, that puts this at around $690.00.

I have NO idea what else you get in this package...

Anyone know whats required here?

BTW: I've really wanted to do this mod to my monster since I got her... I also don't like the look of the cans sticking out so far on the bike. I want the exhaust tucked up under the seat. I've seen quite a few pictures of it being done, but so far, havn't put together a full inventory of what would need to be done to make it happen. cost is always an issue. =)

That whole canister under the seat on the 999 is huge. Sorry, but I don't think there is any way you could tuck it under the seat of a monster and make it look good. As far as I am concerned, it doesn't even look good on the superbikes.

Aftermarket would probably be the only way to go...
