They were not there in Atlanta (Jan 03) either. The story I got was of a very limited event budget. That does not seem to be the place to cut back.
The Atlanta dealer was there with a half dozen bikes and a few jackets, but not much excitement. Some here may remember the story of my buying my Monster last year at the show. The e-bay auction ended while I was there. I got a call from my sister-in-law telling me not to spend a bunch of money on accessories because I had just bought a Ducati. The guys at the display were excited that I was interested in the 1 S4 there until I told them I just bought a bike over the net. Then I got a business card in case I ever needed some accessories. I was an almostowner, the newest of newbies, and could not engage any of them in a discussion about Duc ownership. Had lunch with the guys from the SENS list, all Harley riders that day (it is a mixed group). They were really excited about it.
The following March, Ducati was at the show in Daytona. A display and 1 staffer. No sales, no accessories, no demos. Talked to the guy who said that they changed presidents of DNA that day. He also complained about the lack of event budget. Nice fellow who was glad to chat, but I had to run for a demo on a Victory.
Hope DNA gets itself together soon. I'd hate to see Ducati go the way of Norton, BSA, or especially Indian or triumph (out of business and revived as a Harley clone or water cooled triple).
