Is there a way to find out more information about my new Monster by its VIN?

I bought mine recently from a friend and the only paperwork he had for me is the title and a handwritten bill of sale. He's still looking for old service receipts.

All I know is that it is a 1997 Monster 750... is it an "i", "ie", what... how can I get this, and other information on my motorcycle? Thanks.

IE is fuel injected, you have a carbie. i think in 97 you had a choice of an M750 or an M750, only one flavor.

The M900 was the only Monster sold from 93 through 96. The M750 was introduced in 1997 to join the M900 and was only available in silver in the USA, even though I have a copy of an old magazine article stating that they were supposed to be red, yellow, or black that year.

All of the 1997 Monsters had carburetors.
