While cruising up I-75 towards Tampa yeaterday, Two of my buddies and came over a rise and were escorted off of the road by a very nice Highway Patrolman on a Harley
. He informed us that (even though we were being passed_ we were traveling 87 in a 70 :-[. Really nice guy. told us he wouldn;t have normally bothered with us because we weren't doing any thing "stupid [smiley=cheeky.gif]", but his sargent was in the plane overhead that spotted us, and he had to write us tickets. Being a pilot myself, I check with a friend of mine in the tower at SRQ and was told that the HP plane was flying at 4000ft. my question is how do you assertain speed from that height, while flying in a Cesna? And how well does that hold up in court? It's a $155 ticket, or I can take the "traffic school" amd the wil reduce the ticket and supposedly drop the points from my license with no insurance penalty. Anyone in Florida get busted and use that option? I checked with my agent, and she told me that regardless of points, if the offense shows up, I will be charged with it on my insurance. Please help, I can take an online school and pay the reduced ticket for about $165, but if I'll still get charged on my insurance, why waste the extra money.
