At one time I thought I wanted a bike colection but the maintenance and lack of riding time is changing my mind. Also old bikes and Harleys sound cool to own and are cool to look at but usually aren't as much fun to ride as I remember. I recently had up to 4 or 5 at a time. Including ;
86 gsxr 750/1100 highly modified
87 gsxr 750 bone stock
03 gsxr 1000
03 Duc 749s
99 Duc 996
94 Zx7
03 Duc 999s
I'm now down to the 749 as a track bike only. I'm trying to sell the gsxr 1000. Then want to pick up a s4rs for the street which will leave 2, which seems a little more reasonable. Then again maybe if I can swing it I'll keep the 1000 for a drag racer. ;D

Right now, six and the Blonde's scooter.

1-3) race "bikes": Ninja 250 'A' bike, Ninja 250 'B' bike, Ninja 250 parts bike. (bought one bike and then a got a screamin' deal on a race package with 2 more, both with built engines; the first bike slowly became a parts bike as I cannabilized it throughout the season).

4) Track bike: '99 r6 (just sits in a friend's garage, didn't sell because I thought i might want to ride it at the track if 250 racing didn't do it for me)

5) Urban Assault: KTM LC4 'tard (needed something while the Duc was getting worked on)

6) Ducati: on it's way to a rebirth.

Gonna sell the 'tard and the r6, and just recently broke the third 250 down into parts, so soon enough I'll have only 3 -- my monster and an 'A' and 'B' racebike.

yeah, I agree. I've owned 3 bikes at one time, but now own just my monster. It became a headache and expense maintaining 3 bikes. And my ride time has decreased now after having 2 children over the past few years. Don't get me wrong, if i didn't have to work, had the money, space and time I would probably own 10 bikes. Actually, lately I've been thinking of adding a second bike for the purpose of comfort and 2 up riding. Maybe a multistrada, 70's honda cb, new triumph boneville....who knows, so many options and great bikes out there to serve a variety of purposes.

4 at the moment

05 S2R- Commuter and weekend toy.
03 XR400R - For when I want to get dirty or feel squidly
05 CRF50- For the little ones (usually ;D)
70ish CB450 Chopper (still working on, kinda distracted lately)
Just sold the other CB450 bobber to a friend.

I like to have a bike for whatever mood I'm in. I think I need a few more, my wife doesn't. We're transferring next summer anyway, so at the moment I guess she's right.

me to, just like them.

They all have a battery tender attached and are ready to ride at a moments notice. I literally never take my truck out any more. I can do whatever I need to using one of my bikes. The side car rig is my 3 wheeled truck. I haul lots of crap with that rig.

1999 Suzuki TL1000R - track bike
2005 Monster S2R - street bike

I would prefer to have a lighter, less powerful, sportbike for a trackbike but the TLR is paid for so I make do with it on the track. My S2R has been everything I wanted in a streetbike, I'm so glad to have it! [thumbsup]

1) 2001 748 - Street bike, fun bike, etc...
2) 2001 Suzuki GSXR-600 - strictly for the track
3) The aforementioned 2001 Husky SM610S that is living in John's garage. Looking forward to riding it in 2008.
4) 1995 Yamaha YZ250 - my dirty bike.
5) 2001 Yamaha Zuma scooter - I don't care what you say, scooters kick ass!

I'm actually gonna sell the scooter to my buddy, so it'll be down to 4.

'04 Monster M800 -- my weekend entertainment and weekday "playin' hooky" bike

'05 Yamaha Vino 125 -- perfect for running errands around town or for Wifey to ride to the gym

'06 Honda CRF50F (my 6yo son loves it [thumbsup])

I figure that I could accommodate 2 more bikes in my stable before I run out of time/patience to use them and keep them running. If possible, I'd like to add a dual-sport bike and some sort of 2-up touring bike (Duc ST, Street Glide, or a VFR800) wthin the next couple of years.

9 - see below

I agree that it becomes a chore to maintain them and some go neglected. Last year I did ride everyone of them...except fot the 50 Americano...it still is semi basket and probably will be when I'm in a basket!?

I have often thought of which ones I would keep if I had to get rid of some of them.

Top 4 is a pretty easy cut , if I could only keep 4, these would be the keepers. Don't ask me to narrow it down any further. (in no particular order)

S2R 1000 Monster,
My first 1972 Ducati 750 GT (engine #750313...stiil had sand cast engine cases)
1980 Ducati 900 SS
1999 Ducati ST4
