They're trying to compete w/ the KTM 950. If they ran a 620/695 it'd be too heavy to compete with the real street-motards in that displacement range along the lines of the Husky SM610/ KTM LC4.
Check out the new Aprilia SVX. Its a v-twin motard that getting awesome reviews. The street legal variants should be hitting our shores soon.
