Hello all. I just bought a 1999 Monster 600 Dark. I have a few questions though. First, is it a dry clutch or a wet one. Second, is it 2 or 4 valve. Finally, will the haynes manual that they sell that covers up to '96 monster be of any help for me.

Congrats on your purchase! The answers to your questions: Wet and 2V. As for the manual, I'm not sure of the differences between the 96' and 99' model years.

I believe the Haynes manual is aimed at bikes sold in the USA, and the only model sold here up through 1996 was the M900, with the M750 first arriving in 1997 and the M600 a few years later, but not in California.

So, anything it has to say about the clutch will be different. Much of the rest is likely to be similar, but I can't say for sure. That manual would probably be useful for me, though, since there were very few changes between 1996 and 1997.

I'm curious why they haven't come out with an updated manual after all these years.
