A colleague's brother in the San Diego area wants an older 900SS in the $4-6K range, or possibly a 916 if he is smitten and it's priced right.

Anyone here with concrete suggestions of where to look?
I'm not necessarily looking for a lead on a specific bike (but if you have one.....); more general ideas of good shops or club bulletin boards, something like that.

TIA,
Don

Talk to the salesmen at the local dealers like GP, Oceanside, Spectrum, and (yuck) ECS. If they don't have something used, they probably know which of their customers is ready to upgrade, and should see an opportunity to make a new sale, and gain a new customer too. Also, a WTB with an off-list email on some of the boards might find a primo bike before it goes on the market..finally, Chris Kelly is a San Diegan, and would certainly be one to IM this same question.

GP Motorcycles (1606 G Street, (619) 233-4762) has a large selection of used Ducatis. Beware when entering; I've never seen a dealer with more cool bikes on the floor. It would be easy to go in and come out with four bikes. Great shop to deal with, but expect short frank answers to questions and to be left alone if you don't seem interested. These guys are enthusiasts first and salesmen second, which is maybe how it should be.

Aprilia/Ducati of Oceanside (525 South Coast Hwy, (760) 722-7704). Not as many used bikes, but it's where I bought mine and their service and customer support has been phenomenal. Very solid. A beautiful shop with great staff. If they have what you want then you can't go wrong.

We're lucky here in San Diego to have two great shops, especially after hearing other peoples' stories of other shops around the nation.

Thanks for the leads all.

I'll pass them on.
