Seriousely, we all talk and brag about the wonderful pastime of motorcycle riding and knee-dragging, but I'm really interested if anyone has ever fallen sick or ill from riding?

What brings me to this inquery is one very cold saturday morning, oh say 35 degree weather when I took my M800 for 230+ mile ride down some beautiful country roads in Virginia. I was wearing had full gear, 3 sweaters, armored leathers, thermals, sweat-pants and jeans on top of it, Dr. Martin boots, two paris of socks! Well, needless to say I had I had pretty much every item of cothing I own but that didnt stop me from freezing my a$$ off. 35 degrees is one thing, but add to that 80 mph wind chill and we're talking some serious cold.

The ride was absolutely stunning, had a great time, exept for one little detail. A day later i developed 103 fever which stayed with me for 4-5 days. I finally decided to see a doctor, and it turned out I got PNEUMONIA. Good stuff. Now I'm taking antibiotics, thinking about the exhaust system and front sprocket I want to put on my bike and just wondering has this ever happened to anybody? Anyone ever gotten sick from riding in - say - cold weather?

I really want to know what you guys think....

By the way, I now still have 101 fever, but tomorrow I'm taking my baby out for a spin. ;D

Getting sick on from riding is probably a combination of several things. I was a coughing for a little bit prior to my freezing ride, so I guess the exposure to cold weather for a long period of time is what did it.

Fever is gone, still taking antibiotics but caughing my lungs out. ::)
That sucks.
Sometimes when I ride in New England I feel like I'm hypothermic for a few days afterwards. No matter how warm, or how many layers of clothing, or how hot a shower I take, my core temp is simply locked in low. I hate it.
I know it's dangerous, and I've been lucky so far, but I'll make a rule of being warm.
Anyhow, being cold takes focus away from your riding, and puts it on keeping warm...and that's not really ideal for good riding.
Funny....About a month ago i rode the Duc 22 miles. 38 degrees and no helmet. I did not have it yet. I got the worst ear ache. Then it seemed to morph into a killer sinus infection. I had not been sick for 7 years.

My bike cop friends had it a few times in cold weather before they started wearing masks under their issued uniform masks and one haf to have his lung drained we were only in our late 20s then scary stuff. Now non of us ride unless its least 12°C... Even then with layers
