OK it wasn't the ECU they say, they did replace the wiring harness and told me that that solved the problem. How you develop a short in the wiring harness from checking the valves and painting the thing I have no idea. Kent and the guys at Florida Motorsports in Tally did a great job. They knew I was rushed for time and they came through. They only had my bike for 7 working days. I should have pictures posted of the complete project tomorrow if I can break free from work a little early tonight.

Did you have the console replaced? My bike last weekend got wet in a rain storm and left me stranded until the thing dried out. I have a feeling it was in the console, seeing my LCD's went 8888 instead of displaying the proper odo/time. Let me know if it WAS the console-I'm taking my bike in to have it checked and need to be armed with as much info as possible.
Thanks.
T.

Mine was strictly the wiring harness. yours sounds like the foggy gauges thread in the tech section. I guess there are a lot of them going bad and doing strange things I haven't had a problem yet with mine and hopefully I won't.

Foggy gauges thread. I've got to look that up. The day after my nightmare the gauges were foggy for the whole day of riding. They didn't go back to 'normal' until the following day. Obviously I'm getting h2o in the gauges-maybe an electrical glitch in there prevented my bike from starting till things dried out after the blow-dryer treatment.
Hmmm
