Good Bye Monster

I sold it last week... The shipper took it away tonight... My first motorcycle, my cafe monster, is gone.

I'm surprised how melancholy I'm feeling - I wanted to do this, right? Right.

:-[

I'm sure it will pass... anyone else have stories to share about parting with their first bike or remember what it felt like?

whyy :'( :'(
I think he said ST in another thread but I can't remember for sure. As long as you have another bike, you'll cheer up dude. There are always more monsters in the world too. ;)

You're right Evil. He has betrayed his true love for another. Traitor. [cheeky]

I sure did, DP & Evil. It'll help me get through this!

I really only have time for one streetbike right now... and I need to keep the better half on the side of "motorcycles are good". I have a wedding to pay for and a house to buy in 2007. I color myself reasonably lucky to be able to swing a change of toys as it is!

Nonetheless... I find myself already plotting a return to monsterdom. The brains of my operation agrees, the ST4s is a great ride but lacks the dead sexy monster appeal.

I'll be back... mark my words...

Man I was genuinely bummed as it was being loaded up and rolling down the road away from me, though. Ah well.

Easy come easy go, but ya always remember your first, right?

I think I know what you mean. I'm thinking about trading my beloved Monster in next summer for an 07 Sport 1000. I can't afford two bikes and need something better for two up riding. My g/f loves to go, but after about an hour she's ready for a break. I really like the looks of the Sport and I'll be going from a 750 to a 1000ds so maybe it won't be that bad. Still, I bought my Monster new in 99 and it will be like losing an old friend.

Yeah, you get it... The feeling wasn't even on my radar until I realized I was spending the last few seconds with it. Then it was a bummer. You'll love that 1000ds engine though... like me, that's really the balancing factor right now, that I have a bike still - and a really fun one at that. I would be seriously bummed if I was selling it with no prospect of riding again. Thankfully that's a reality I'm not confronted with.
I'll never forget when I had to sell my first bike, very depressing, and to think I sold to please some stupid cum guzzling slut face whore.

Young and stupid, that never has or ever will happen again.

14 years and I still hate that bitch.
I am currently selling mine, but selling so I can buy a Monster
I just traded in my first bike. It was the 620 I learned to ride on for 16 months.

Traded it in on a leftover S4R in the same red and grey colour scheme. So I'm not exactly crying like niagra falls. I loved that 620, though. Lots of memories.

But how do you really feel about it? ;)

I've gotta admit, my fiancee was a big part of why I made the switch...

There is a huge difference between fiancee and some chick your bangin,. I was 18, didn't know any better. I thought the vagina was better then my beloved GPZ 750 Turbo. Guess again, she's long gone but my Turbo would worth some good money right now.

I too have to admit, the Multistrada project stemmed from my GF not really liking to ride on the back of the Monster. I should thank for that...
Letting go is hard to do. sometimes you don't realize the connection you have to something until it is gone. But on the other hand it is still just a bike...what is important is the memories you have made while owning it; that is what it is really all about. But if I had a bike and girl lke sly fox's signature I would NEVER let it go. [thumbsup]

You dated her too [cheeky].....ya I had a girl that made me sell something I loved. I still hate her to this day.
i was pleased to see my first monster head off into the sunset.....

i needed the cash to finish paying for the new one i had already picked up from the dealer 8)
I recently sold my old 2003 Matte Silver Ducati Monster 620ie for a new 2005 Glossy Black Ducati Monster 1000s, and I still miss the old color scheme! :'(

I think your 1st bike must be like your 1st girlfriend, you'll always remember her! [laugh]
