Hello everyone,
New to the Board. I found this board when I was considering a
new bike. This is a great forum! It definately helped get me
off the fence and make a decision which bike to get. I sold
off some old iron, a CB1000 and a wrecked Sportster
(I didn't do it!), and got a S4R, black. This bike is
awesome. I always wanted a Ducati, now I have one! I
only have about 200 miles on it so far, but I have a question.
Hopefully this has happened to someone else. I picked the bike
up from the dealer and rode it back to work. When I got there, I
noticed fuel had been running out of the tank filler and down the
sides of the tank. I cleaned it up when I got home and forgot
about it. I filled up the tank and got the same thing. I am
pretty sure I overfilled the tank trying to round the pump up to
the next $.25. So I expected some fuel to run out. Now with
about 100 miles on this tank of fuel, I still get some lines of
evaporated fuel down the side. Should I consider this
normal? I plan to take it to the dealer for the 600 mile
service. Should I mention it to them and ask them to fix it,
or is this a "feature" on the Monster?
Thanks,
Dan

No offense, but are you sure that the filler cap has been fully closed? I ask because my girlfriend just picked up her new M800 and the same thing happened at the first two fill-ups. Turns out that she wasn't getting the cap to click on the second catch.

Yup, I heard and felt the click for the latch on the tank. I looked a bit closer tonight. The gasket and all seem on plane with each other, nothing out of shape. Thanks for the feedback. I never had a problem like this on other bikes. Just wanted to be sure. I will ask the dealer to fix it when I take it back for the 600 mile checkup. Thanks again, Dan
