I'm think of taking the beastie (2005 1000DS) apart this winter and maybe powder coating the frame. Maybe red, or possibly gold (like some of the earlier Duc superbikes). Anybody have experience with this to point out important precautions, and have any places that they can recommend to do the powder coating work? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a powdercoat frame and don't recommend it. Use a good 2pac or similar paint, powder has so many negatives when it come to frames. Thickness, chipping, flaking, water/rust creap under coating to create future issues(very much so on alloy parts), lack of touch up matching, hard to match paint colors to powdercoat, repairs/mods are hard to hide. Use a good paint, long term it will be best!

Thanks. I guess epoxy is a valid alternative, and probably a good bit cheaper.
Now, what color...
