I did my first race weekend on my 01 M750 at Loudon this past weekend. What a blast! This is the first race bike I've owned that wasn't an inline so it was like reinventing the wheel at first. Once I found my shift points I dropped a second and a half off of my best lap time.
My first race was the Lightweight Supersport. I got a less than desirable start from the 5th row of the grid and worked my way up to 7th place. My second race was Middleweight Sportsman. From the second row of the grid I was in 2nd place going into turn 1. As I came past the start/finish to start lap 2 I made tha pass for the lead and never looked back. I ended up winning by almost 13 seconds.
Over the winter I have to address the ground clearance issues. I already have rearsets so its just the exhaust I have to fix. Once thats taken care of I will be able to really push the bike.
I posted 2 pictures in the racing and track day album.
What a weekend! ;D
