I just bought a pair of Monster projects, a 2000 900 and a 2XXX 800. I'd like to build the 900 but I don't have much of the FI stuff, nor a fuel tank. How difficult is it to convert it to carbs? How will the spark work? I asked this same thing three years ago when I was looking at another Monster but no answers. I searched but everyone seems to be going in the other direction...

I'd like to build the 900 to carbs? ...
OK, my first question, Why carbs?

It's a 900, you could build up tp a 944 with engine kit; get a used tank on *bay or in parts for sale, maybe complete; get larger injectors, light flywheel, aluminum clutch basket, et all...

What's your main issue? Lost red key? Damaged gauges?

"...compression & spark & fuel and that's it".>>> this is the same as with carbs, just that in EFI, a computer via sensors, adjusts and measures what with carbs we do with screws, screwdrivers, timing lights, et all.

it's doable, but, i think complicated.

No key, no ecu, no gauges, no tank, don't know what else I'm missing. Maybe there's enough used parts out there now that it doesn't make sense to go carbureted?
