I have na 02 620ie and I am wondering what the difference is between a 620, 750, 900. Why do some cans fit all and other fit exact? year, make, model?

The motors have different stroke lengths therefore they have different cylinder lengths and different length header pipes are required. For example the 620 monster has a bore x stroke of 80 x 61.5 while the 900 has 92 x 68. That is a stroke difference of 6.5mm. So the header pipe will need to be that much longer assuming the ports are in the same position. This is for a full system of course.

When looking at ducati performance kits, they generally come with an ECU that matches the bike. So every bike will have a different part number due to the ECU's being different.

As far as slip-ons go they fit all the displacements and years of 600/620/750/800/900/S4/1000 excluding the S2R and S4R bikes, but if it comes from Ducati in a kit with the ECU they will all have different part numbers.

But, for example part number 96007700B is a low mount carbon slip-ons with no ECU or filter and it fits all 600/620/750/800/900/S4/1000, but part number 96440304B is low mount carbon slip-ons with ECU and air filter and will only fit the 620.

What exhaust are you looking for?

I picked up a set of used stock cans off a 99 750 a few years ago that don't fit my 94 900.
What exactly didn't fit about them? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't because Ducati is quirky like that and have odd ball items sometimes, but according to their own literature they should fit.

Like I said above, they give one part number (96007700B) and list it to fit MS4 - M600/750/900 prior to and including '01 and M620/750/800/900/1000 from '02 on.
