Before I mount them to the bike, that is. Can I simply hit it with a 12V to see if it lights up or would that be too much juice flowing though the system? I picked them up off of e-Bay so I'd like to make sure they work prior to making the swap. Thanks folks. 8)

Yeah, I know I'll have to get resistors to make them flash the normal speed. What I'd like to nail down is that yes, they do work, before I go through the trouble of swapping the stockers for these. I need an easy way to test them, just to see that they will indeed light up when they've got juice. I figure I can just hit them with a 12V but I'm concerned that this would risk damaging them. Are they getting the same charge when they're on the bike?

Yep, just hook them up to 12V. Don't use a battery charger, they have a higher voltage, but hook them up to a battery. Most will only light up when connected properly to plus and minus... connecting them wrong way round doesn't harm them though.
