Ducati lovers,
I’m having a little issue of 3/4 of an inch gap at the tail between the seat & frame.
It’s troubling me since I think that I tried everything, I played with the latch forward, backwards & also tried adding spacers but no luck. The tail rubber pads are not making contact with the frame. It’s a Corbin model D-M11-9 that should fit properly, I tried contacting Corbin but since I bought it second hand, I don’t get respect. So that only way that the rear tail is flush is when the front pins of the seat are sitting on top of the tank pin slaught but that can’t work bc if I sit on it the pin will break. Maybe I’m just too picky but since I’ve been working on her all went perfectly except the seat. Please any advice would be appreciated!!!

@ericfreeman I haven’t thought of that but Yes I have a tail tidy mod & it’s hard to say that the tail tidy mod will effect the fitment of the Corbin but again I can be wrong. If that’s the case, I can’t see how any mod between the seat or frame can get rid of that 3/4 inch gap at the tail maybe it’s there to stay.

P.S. Are you a REAL motorcyclist? I wonder ... as I did not see a skateboard hanging on your man cave wall?

Thank you for your reply 🙏🏻 Maybe with a measurement engineer we can figure this out.
This Corbin seat is made for my year bike and nothing is blocking but somehow it doesn’t sit flush. The Corbin seat as you can see in the pictures has 8 round rubber pads and the 2 pins on the front of the seat that fits into the tank spacer. When I don’t insert the seat 2 pins into the tank spacers but on top of the tank spacers the Corbin seat sits flush and with no gap. I’ve read that people cut off some of the 8 round rubber pads to make it fit but I’m not sure if that’s my issue??

LOL, you are describing a misfit visible by a rotation around some pivot point.
So, it would appear that the two engagement pins are not in correct place.
What we should do is ...
1. I will measure my M1100S seat pan with metrology equipment and then translate the critical points into a measurement that you can do without sending you seat to me.

If, you had access to a laser scanner or any measurement device, we could really nail down the issue. This would be fun!

Hi, the only measurement tool I got is a measurement tape, lol , so if I’m understanding correctly maybe my seat pan is off, also please clarify when you say “seat pan” meaning the backside of the seat or where the seat connects on the Duc?? Your right it seems like 2 engagement pin are too low since when they sit on top of the tank slauht it fits perfectly, maybe trimming some of the seat round rubber pads can fix that because I wouldn’t know how or if it’s possible to reposition the 2 engagement pins??Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻

my OEM seat pan is in the car and will be measured tomorrow. After that I will reduce the data to terms you can comprehend with a ruler and a few basic tools like scissors, paper, and a plastic protractor.
I have the OEM seat and a Sargent set so I can measure both seat pans ( yes the plastic base is the seat pan.)

Since we have the same bike I want to ask you when you last greased the swingarm pivot? I cringed at the Ducati manual service instructions so I developed a way to replace the pivot with a modified pivot complete with grease and grease holes ... I engineered the whole system. It took me 30 minutes to swap the pivot and grease the bearings. I have written a paper on the project just for laughs. Let me know if you are interested.
Dr Ducstein, Thank you 🙏🏻 for all the interesting calculations & info. I will look into all that you have recommended & stated as soon as I can since the frame isn’t symmetrical and the Corbin seat is with the rubber pads being all the same. And will use your suggestion with the candy. Regarding the swingarm pivot please if you can give me more info since I’m not sure. Also I went for a short ride and I find myself always sliding towards the tank, I’m not sure if it’s the seat positioning?? I have stock handlebar but I removed the I believe the 2 inch riser & with stock footrest ( I’m thinking of getting aftermarket ones to get a more sporty feel maybe that would help ) I’m thankful for help & your investigation!!!
