I bought a Monster 797 (2017) in Sept 2020 and it was at 1000km (600 miles in the US). So the seller did the 1000km maintenance (with a oil change) just before selling it to me. I stored the bike for the Winter at about 2200km. Do I need an oil change when I start the new season in April/May although the manual says 8000km?
Not worth it. You've got less a year old fully synthetic oil used for less than 1500kms.
If I were you I would replace the oil BEFORE putting the bike in storage.
Me too, its also moisture thats bad for oils (and other fluids such as in brakes) as well as use and as indicated in above post, thats why you should change oil before you store a bike for a while
It’s probably not the end of the world if you don’t but it sure as heck won’t hurt anything. I bought my 797 about the same time as you. It had about 500 miles on the oil change. I put another 2500 miles or so on it before winter and did the oil change in late November. More than anything I wanted to just get on the change before winter schedule.
