OK, so my S4R purchase fell through. It was a hell of a bargain and I am pissed that I missed out. That now means I can't get a S4R(finance issue).

So, my options are now a 2005 S2R 800 or do I get an older 900 or S4 ?

For those that don't know, my previous bike was a 2000 900.

My problem is that I love that dry clutch rattle, but also like the SSS and shotgun exhausts....

Lets see you've owned a Monster 900
getting another one,
Na been there done that.
S2R800 much the same maybe handels a little better but still much the same in the power dept.
S4 na Water Cooled.
Steel a S2R 1000 >:D
My vote was for the S2R 800 :)

Monstro, I think you have missed one of the best all rounders on your poll..... ???

S2R1000
No, didn't miss the S2R1000 - they just seem to be as rare as hen's teeth. In all my searching, I've come across 1 or 2, but out of my price range.
how about this late model s4 on ebay, looks very sweet.

is this a dml'rs bike?

I just tipped him off on this one!

no one from the dml but a docnsw fella.. Tis a sweet looking bike [thumbsup]

hey hey, this marks my 1000th post - I better get a life quick!
CONGRATULATIONS Nick ! Get that Toaster !

I placed a few bids on that S4, but I took it up over $12,500, which is sort of my new limit now, so it looks like I'm heading down the S2R800 path for the next 12months and then I want my pearly S4RS !! [thumbsup] [cheeky]

Thanks mostro, but I don't know about them shipping a toaster way down here.... would be good though!!

I reckon you still ring the dude and see what it will take.... he's a duc enthusiast for sure, and its funny how we want our beloved toys to end up in good hands when it is time to say goodbye. you never do know.....

either that or say F$%k it and buy ita's super pumped up S4R with the SPS cams and all the other goodies >:D
Email me if innerested in my 2000 900 ie Dark - in Melbin

Yes, I know, I only got it very recently.......

It's a GREAT 'bike, the problem is me, I have realized I'm stuck in a 1970's time warp, the Monsta is too modern for my likes. I love the grunt, and the brakes, but don't like the riding possie - and I really miss fiddlin' with carbs, points and coils, tracking down oil leaks, having bits coming loose and falling off, breakdowns, kickstarting ...........................

Yeah, you're right, that was low... From now on I'll stick to suggesting maybe you should take up lawn bowls...

:)

now, lawn bowls I can handle....much easier to carry a ball on a bike than a set of clubs... [thumbsup]

Oh, and I haven't even chimed in yet [laugh]

But seriously: 4-valver. It'll scare you into paying attention when riding :)
OK, the deal is done. I am now the proud owner of an '02 900ie. Rode it back from Canberra this afternoon....sweating all the way back.....

Have to say, that the suspension is better than my old '00 900 and definitely feels like turning more. Perhaps the different bars make a difference in feel there - my old 900 had the city bars, so were higher.

Apart from that, it feels great...the 900 engine is lovely and familiar and the Termis sound great !
