Let's see what happened.......

Braking coming up onto a turn, loose rocks in the road, not gravel, just individual little rocks. Suspension bottomed out and it was all over. Low side city. Was probably going about 30-35 when it happened.

Not sure if I locked the front wheel or not.......Looks like I did. OE

suckitty suck SUCK!!!!
okay... send the tank to norm to have the dent pulled, and then to salvage most of the chromo effect, scratch out a section of the chromo and paint it black on either side, keeping the majority of the chrome in tact!
kinda like the style of the roadracing aluminum tanks.
kinda like the tank on the bike in this pic:

except substitute the orange for black and the black for the remaining chrome on your tank!

or like the opposite of this tank:

I like that idea. If they do not total it, I will go that way.

Damn, that sucks! I have a Chromo tank too and was always wondering how much a new one went for. For that much money, I'd probably go with a different paint color and try something new.

Did your rear seat cowl get dented too? I can't tell from the picture?

Glad to hear you are okay! Thanks for the info.

sorry to say, but it's definately totalled. if you can, (and if you want to), talk to your insurance rep about buying the bike back from them. you'll have a "salvage" title but you can fix it up with used parts/aftermarket goodies for pretty short money and then apply to get a street title reinstated.

That's very similar to the damage my bike received last year.

They totalled mine and sent me a check for ~$9k after deductables, etc. I bought it back for

I am not sure what they are going to do with the bike. I am taking all the good stuff off now. The Penske shock, the PCIII the airbox and the arrow exhaust are all coming off.

Have to buy new gear and send the old and the receipts for the new to my insurance so they can cut me a check. The RF1000 I had was only two days old! But it all worked. Held gloves with the rivets in the palms are bad ass and saved my hands. The helmet hit the ground and I slid on the shield, the jacket is burned through on the shoulder and by the wrist. It worked though.

ATGATT (all the gear all the time) Use it.
