Washing the bike on Sunday (I know, bad idea...) and I sprayed cold water on to an apparently hot headlight. Cracked the lense in half!

Is the Ducati part expensive and if so, does anyone know if one of the big four makes the same thing for cheaper-say the lense off an SV perhaps?

thanks,
miles

I think you missed a few dollar signs on the Ducati one! Called a couple Duc dealers to check. $360 for the whole bucket-they don't sell just the lense.

$25 from BMW for the same Bosch lense as stock on our Ducs (7 1/4" diameter). Ask for the lense from a 850 Roadster, if you just say 850 they may give you the wrong info like the first place I called.

Thanks for the lead Howie!

Mine cracked from a rock. I was thinking of going dual, but 25 bucks sounds cheap. Is it hard to replace the lens? I thought it was one piece.

I have a 1982 750 Honda Nighthawk with the the same lense on a stock headlight bucket and fits perfect. I don't know if the lense is original but the lense is identical as the monster except for saying "made in Sweeden" on the bottom instead of Germany.
If you look at the "seven o'clock " position on the edge of the monster lense, the DOT approval date for the lense is 1983. I bet these lenses have put on a bunch of different bikes.

Sorry for the double post....
On many of the Italian Harleys from the 70's, the tailight is a DOT approved lense from the early 60's often used on trialers.
Still avilable at Wal-Mart for under 2 bucks.
