eliminated the S4R from my "next" monster list-gorgeous bike but the cost verses what i will use it for isnt logical

so im lookin at either an S4 or a 1000DS monster

was wonderin if anyone has test ridden the two back to back? any quirks?

all opinions welcome

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would think that you would have to take advantage of the air cooled motor's lower weight as well as a few simple tuning upgrades in order for it to kick S4 ass.

The weight difference is not as much as you might think:

7lbs more for the S4. 9lbs more for the S4R.

The horsepower difference is substantial:

17 more for the S4. 29 more for the S4R.

Sounds like we've got a bet here Babaloo. Anyone have a 1000DS that we can start working on to embarrass Scott??

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not THAT good of a rider - when Rossi & I ride, he beats me most of the time. 6th gear roll ons?, I don't usually do those, my specialty is firing a bike out of a corner, but sure, I'll give it a try. You haven't done any devious hot rodding to that thing have you?

Nothing personal Scott, but I don't trust you when you say "just some simple upgrades". Care to elaborate?
