A while ago someone posted a link to a site where you can buy clear cam covers. Upon seeing them I had to have them. I paid 84 bucks for them and them to journey their way to my house from England ;D . Anyways I have them mounted and any questions are welcome. Here are some pictures.

That is all

Well it wasn't dirty until I got my bottom gasket leak on the vertical cylinder. Other than that nothing slings around. Unless you have something slicing around your belts nothing can get in to messy things up. Least I hop

The old covers contain more sections so they are easier to get around all the drain lines, fuel hoses, oil cooler line, so my only problem with mounting was finagling around all those parts. It fits very nicely. I don't know if they have one for the 1000, check out that website. I think they are soooo much cooler than Carbon ones and sooo much cheaper. They look nice with darks too.

Yes I really do run without a pipe. I don't know why but whenever I switch pipes on anything I own I always like to run around without mufflers just to see..... I did it first on my 280ZX when I was putting headers and cat back on it, and god was that a great sound! So I wrecked and my pipes got scratched and dented, I took them off because I was changing rear sets too. I got the rear sets on but the pipes just never made it back on. I'm really starting to love the look of it.
The bike runs good. I lost alot of bottom end, it feels like I have more top end by the seat of the pants but then again, thats the seat of the pants, and its also louder which makes it seem faster. I have a jet kit so it has enough fuel, it just has a bit more trouble cranking up. With the pipes on it would just crank with one touch of the starter, now it needs a lil coaxing from the throttle. No real differences in running once its cranked. It is LOUD!!!! god it sounds cool! Harley guys and crotch rocket guys have no idea what is going on. I have gone on an hour ride with no ear plugs and regretted it, however I have heard many harley's with straight pipes that are alot louder. Actually some jap bikes with those yoshimura's are in my opinion louder too. It sounds awesome and pounds the ground. The only thing I don't like is the rasp that it emits when I let off the throttle between 3500 and 5500 rpm's. In fact that is the loudest noise it makes. It sounds like a tractor trailer jake brake. If you keep in the throttle a lil and don't get all the way off it is managable. The bike also has alot less engine braking with no pipes, and requires more clutching when starting. Sure does help cars know you are coming though :) So yes, I do run without a pipe, I'm young of course I'm going to do dumb stuff like this :D
So I hope this answers your question Dennis.
Have no others on this forum ever tried this?
