Quick question for any of you folks experienced in removing and reinstalling the battery. My Monster just recently made a trip from Southern California all the way out here to Italy. In order to ship it I had to remove the battery.

Here in the next couple of days, I will be getting the bike back and putting the battery back in. Is there anything I should pay attention to with regard to the bike starting up properly? Be it needing to enter the security code, best practices, things to inspect prior to, or anything like that.

I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to bike maintenance but I'm willing to learn. Any tips appreciated!

Why did you go to all the trouble and cost of shipping your bike from California to Italy? Are you going to be there for a long time?

I'll be here for two years. It was part of a military move, so the US Government picked up the bill on the shipping and freight. The only thing I had to do was remove the battery and empty the gas tank. So far all I have spent to get it running again was $6 for using the garage space at the base auto hobby shop and $8 for the gas can. Not too shabby.

Oh man, now I'm very jealous. Although I could never join the military, I wish you the best and safest time over there.

Last time I was in Italy I ate gelato every day and put on 10 lbs in two weeks.
