G'day All,

Day 2 of Monster 900 ie Dark 2000 ownership, and I'm in the shed looking, looking.....

The batt is a FIAMM EcoForce F12 - 12 B, and I suspect it's as old as the 'bike.

As I've noticed there's no kickstarter I am worried about a 6 year old batt letting me down, altho it is working perfectly right now.

Wot's the usual lifespan of these sealed items, and wot's a suitable replacement available around here ?

TIA

Depends on how it was treated.
I'm no expert, but the guy who owned my bike did short trips every day and killed a $200 yuasa battery in 2 years.
The only thing i would suggest is taking it out (not hard) go to a battery place and have them test it.
If you are in Sydney, battery world on the princes highway at tempe seemed ok.
I personally put a quality battery in as kickstarting the ktm is not something I have come close to mastering yet (just ask Ron).

I got a good deal through a mate that works at a specialist battery shop ...Ithink the best option is to deal with a battery shop rather than a bike shop ...a bit more choice and the opportunity to haggle...." how much??? I only wanted a battery .. not shares in the company!" ;D

get rid of it, it will leak or explode, mine did and so have 100's of others.

In the end I had to get the same type of battery as i had a lot of trouble any other type to fit. Wanted a gel type but all too big to fit the standard box.

Now i have the new battery wrapped in a bag with a battery mat under it for when it next leaks
