I picked up the Icon Squad backpack (New model for this year). the helmst pocket folds up and into the pack when not in use. Its great, I can fit my pants, gloves, helmet, and boots in there for my morning commute. Granted its pretty big when all full of gear, but its a short walk from the parking lot to the office.

Also the pack zips up at the chest so it sits tight on your back and won't act like a chute trying to rip you off the back of the bike!! Especially at over 90 mph! >

At $80 bucks it was a pretty good deal [thumbsup]

I know! I like it though and it might be worth it for me with all the features it has. This along with the rolling packing. Lots of storage and pockets!! I'm all about packing! Kind of OCD when it comes to that!

Military Surplus is really cheap and functional. But, not for everyone. I got a messanger bag for <$10. A free carabiner to boot. I can use the biner to attach the bag to a belt loop so the bag doesn't slide around on my ride.

 

I've got the Oakley O Pack 3.0 and it's a great cycle-pack. Perfectly formed for the wind to slide right over your pack without much resistance at all. Not to mention the zippers and covers are designed like it was intended for bike use.

It'll fit a helmet with quite a bit of room to spare. Not to mention the extra compartments. It's the only thing I use for riding.

It's not as big as the kitchen sink pack, but it's $100 cheaper. And if you don't mind your helmet hanging off the back it has lots of little hook things on it too. I'll often carry a spare jacket in the pack and a helmet attached if I'm picking up the girl.

It's not specifically designed for a helmet pack, but it plays the part well for not much $$

Thanks for the input MNM!! I was checking that pack out when they first came out. I'll have to take a look at it again! I can always get a small helmet bag to put over it when it in that pack for extra padding.

 

Here are some pics of the Oakley O 3.0 pack with helmet and jacket. The first two are my Suomy Ventura helmet, size Medium with the pack unzipped, as you can see there is still quite a bit of space.

 

The last two are the jacket and helmet I stick in the pack, and then the pack with the jacket and helmet in it. It's a tight fit for both of them, but it works. Of course, anything you want to bring with you has to be taken out of the pack or strapped to the back of it.

My summer jacket (pictured) is a Joe Rocket textile with Leather elbows and Shoulders. It is fully armored, so I'm guessing it takes up as much space as a typical leather jacket, but it's probably more flexible, so if you want to cram a leather jacket in it might not work, depending on how big your helmet / jacket are.

I still think it's a great pack though, it does wonders for me.

That's a cool pack! It's not the one I was thinking of. I was thinking about that first Oakley pack that they came out with a few years back.

That would def. come in handy in Italy for storing all my gear and walking around to see the sites.

It's fairly comfortable to ride/walk with, and cheap. Used ones go for $20 -$30, new for ~$50. I've had mine for 9 or 10 years (it was my constant companion all through college) and who knows how long it got used in the Army, and it's still solid.

Yeah..I was checking out that pack before. I like those 3 large pockets! I saw em in black at the BX in Mesa. Very inexpensive!

I bought a Performance Luggage Cargo/Endurance today at CycleGear for $69.

Not a bad price and looks like adequate space.

Just have to get rid of the orange logos!!

Still debating on getting that Cortech or this Titanium Performance Cargo though.
