I know the Dallas/Ft. Worth section have their own write-up on this but I figured the "other" parts of Texas could fill in too... :)

Had a great time over the weekend. Got to see the Dallas store and test ride a Sport 1000 and a Multistrada on Saturday. The Sport 1000 was pretty nice, more comfortable than I expected. A fun bike all around. A 999 demo was available, but it was booked up for the rest of the afternoon.

The weather turned out absolutely perfect for Sunday's track day. This was my first time at Cresson but I've heard a lot of good things about it so far. The elevation changes and off-camber turns, along with the compactness of the 1.7 mile track section, certainly made things interesting. I tried to familiarize myself with the track lines throughout the morning, and was dragging parts during the sessions after lunch. I thought the footpegs and kickstand would go first, but it was actually the clutch/brake foot levers to touch down first. Probably a good time to raise the rear height or get some rearsets.

Seems like the steering damper helped out some (thanks Peter S4R) coming out of the turns. The new Pilot Powers certainly were a confidence builder as I was scraping parts around those tight corners. I got to meet Vinucci with his 620, and some other Ducati owners around the area. Hey Vince, you make it back to Houston okay?

Kudos to Jeff Nash and his crew for putting on a great weekend. Looking forward to the next one.

Time to jack up the bike's rear... or maybe some rearsets?

Yeah, I met August and his friend Jeff since they pitted right next to me. Nice guys. Jeff's bike, the 916 in the second pic, blew its chain in the session right after lunch. Fortunately, it did minimal damage (no harm to the engine casing).
