I have a 2005 620ie. From the exhaust flange on the cylinder heads to where the mufflers start, the exhaust header is just regular old exhaust header steel with the usual kind of brown exhaust pipe look. Has anyone sprayed on an aluminized coating like Jet Hot or one of the others? It would more closely match the mufflers (or whatever they are called on the bike) and retain some of the exhaust heat. If I remember correctly from my hot rodding days this was the hot setup for exhaust headers.

I'm sure folks have. I brushed on some of PORs black velvet on mine. Worked great, took the heat. And black velvet isn't rated as highly (for temps) as some of the other stuff out there. Also ceramic coatings, but those will be more expensive and you'll have to send your headers off.
