Hi,

Was reading up on the Monster in the Faloon book and was wondering if the clutch slave design on the 97 750 models is as prone to leakage as the ones on left side of the engine. And if so, what is the course of action on those. Are parts/replacements as plentiful on these? As I'm shopping around I want to know if I should rule out a 97 model. There is a bone stock one near me in silver, love miles and the price is very tempting. Would leave a nice surplus for some pipes and other mods.

Did the M750 and M900 use the same type of clutch slave for 1997? I've owned my bike for more than 6 years now and haven't done a thing with the clutch slave other than change the fluid two or three times.

And Chris, you can delete your extra post by clicking on the "remove" button in the upper right of the box with your post in it.

I think the '97 750 had the slave on the inside of the clutch cover. I have no clue as to the configuration. Only reason I know anyting about it at all is from the pics of Karen's 750, I thought it was a cable operated clutch.

it is on the inside, but since it doesnt leak how would you know if it went bad? not disengaging?
(if it did need replaced there arent aftermarket options)
karen's bike has been rock-solid reliable on all the stock parts.
everything ELSE we did caused headaches. ;D
i wouldnt rule out the 97.

Thanks guys! Yes the clutch slave on the 97 750's is in the clutch cover. Just wondering if parts are readily available should one start leaking. Jeff, sounds like the one on your wife's bike hs been good. Hear alot of course of leaking on the slaves on the left had side and I know that aftermarkets are available there. Just hadn't heard/read much on the ones in the clutch cover.
