to All,

I have access to "loaner" 851 front forks and wheel, etc. as I have a lot of riding to do.

just curious to know if it would slide into the stock S2R triples.

thanks

Yes*

*- Brake caliper mount spacing is different ... 40mm on old stuff as opposed to 65 on the new. Everything I've read says the Monster and SS forks at the triples are unchanged from 1991 to current.

sorry Chris,

I meant to ask if the entire front end from an 851 fit an S2R triple clamp.

as an assembly to slide into the S2R triples?

Yes the forks themselves are the same size if they are the USD forks from a 91 or new 851, but as Chris said the calipers you have from the S2r will not fit the 851 forks as the spacing is different. Also the front wheel may have a different size axle.

He says he has all the stuff

"forks , wheel, etc..." (assuming ETC is the brakes)

So the answer seems to be yes

We were simply pointing out several differences in case he happened to want to try to shortcut it ::) I know I have a good grasp on reading comprehension.

That borders sacreligious you know. :)
I knoww, but the 851 in question is down due to some serious cosmetic damage and won't see the light of day until it's fixed... So until then, the s2R could be very much enjoying (or abusing) that front end... >:D

what year 851? if its before 1991, it'll have the rock-hard marzocci which
you definately don't want.

They are not that bad if you know a few tricks to set them up. Those also wont fit they are standard forks whereas the 91 and later came with the USD Showas
