do an archive check on this, but I think that the general consensus was that those temps are perfectly normal. Mine is usually around 250, with spikes to 280 or so when doing lower speed, higher rev twisty stuff.

tell her to get back on the horse...

IIRC, oil manufacturers are comfortable with 250, 270-280 is considered a little high, and they get nervous over 300.

If she changes the oil every 3000 miles, it should be OK.

I'd hesitate to run the oil for 6000 miles when it gets that hot, although Ducati recommends that oil change interval.
I look at it as cheap insurance to change it more often.

Oil change intervals, oil brands, actually, most anything about oil is usually a pretty "lively" topic here...
This may get interesting. :)

My 620 runs anywhere between 230- 250 on normal days. Occasionally while riding in traffic on very hot days it got to 270... no problems, soon as we got moving a bit it went down to the normal 230-250.

Should be fine...

Although my 620 had a faulty oil temp sensor (replaced under warranty) which was reading about 60 degrees too high... it would dip in the low 300's which freaked me out.. then I realized even at cold-starts it would show about 140.. which wasn't right.. now it reads "LO" until it hits about 120 on cold starts.

Get the temp sensor checked. My '02 620 had a faulty sensor. It wasnt reading lo at all. Just like everyone else said, that temp should be fine, and if if gets too hot, I think the display actually says "hi"
have the dealer look at it if its under warranty. know what I mean Vern?
