02 900 or 03 1000

Could anyone give me some info between these to bikes. I looking at buying a Monster, but the dealer doesn't have any 1000, and it will take 2-3 weeks to get one. They have an 02 900 on the floor. Marked down of course. Other than the engine, is there anything that would make me wise I would have waited for the 1000?

They also have a new Multistrada on the floor. I know it's a completely different kink of bike, but what do you guys think? The seat on the Monster is softer, but the Multi seems to have better leg room. That is a consideration since I 6'1". Thanks for the info.
