796 twin exhaust to 1100 evo single

I have on my 796 the stock 2-1-2 exhaust system. I've since replaced the stock end cans with Leo Vince twin slip ons and they were great. But i'm planning to replace the 2-1-2 system with that from the 1100 evo 2-1. I've already made measurements so i'm sure pipe diameters are the same for both and the evo system is a direct bolt-on to the 796... except for minimal mods for hanging the midpipe under the footpeg.

I've read enough about exhaust designs to appreciate that the headers for both cylinders should be of equal length before they join at the collector in order to achieve proper tuning. Problem is, headers of the vertical cylinder of the evo is longer than the horizontal by at least a foot. I've noticed that ducati uses that similar 2-1 exhaust design on most newer monsters, diavels and scramblers (i.e. unequal header length).

My question is, if i'm to mount the evo exhaust on my 796, do i need to have my ecu retuned to adapt to the assymmetric header length? If so, what sort of remap shall i get? Any other stuff i need to know about this particular mod?

Thanks in advance.

Finally decided to swap out the oem... with some mods to the front cylinder header and some fabs to fit the endcan. No adverse effect on the motor behavior (i.e. no backfires, no cel, etc). Only the exhaust note changed

That looks so bad ass. Have you thought about doing a parts and tips write up for this exhaust swap?

I also wonder what weight savings you would gain on the 2-1 setup.

The 1100evo full pipe is a direct bolt on to the 796 frame and motor. No mods necessary. I found removal of old pipe and installation of new easier if you remove the gas tank first. You also want your tank to be almost empty so it will be lighter and easier to remove.
