Here's another vote of confidence in Seacoast Sport Cycle.
I believe their head mechanic used to be one of the BCM guys.
He's certainly extremely knowledgeable and competent.

Do a full rebuild on the carbs, including replacing the emulsion tubes.

You should be getting WAY better than that. With fresh carbs, my M900's (the '93 I had last, and the '95 I have now) get...

That's still a pretty big bike for a beginner; big enough to bite you, so be careful.

These do best with lots of riding. Don't let them sit and rot -- that way expensive lies.
But if you do the...

You'll need to pack lightly, and hopefully you've gotten some practice at withstanding the windblast for long rides. You shouldn't plan on carrying a passenger much.
With those provisions, yes, you...

Yep, alive and kicking. In NH now.

Unfortunately my trusty '93 M900 Monster is no longer alive and kicking; we got taken out by a hit-and-run driver last October.

In general, an engine with more cylinders (and the same overall displacement) will rev more quickly, and engine brake less. So (all else being equal) a 700cc twin will have more midrange torque, rev...
