How much for a 10k service

My S2R needed a new tyre, so I combined this with an early (8000km) service
I was floored when I was presented with a bill for $1318
Is this normal, or am I being taken for a ride?

Re: How much for a 10k service

Thats an expensive tyre!

Did the service include belts?

I had mine done at Gowanlochs and had them do the belts as well due to it being two years old. New chain as well. I recall it cost about a grand.

Yours seems a bit on the high side.

Whoa! now i'm scared...I'm picking up mine from it's 20k in about 3 hours....I might take along a small baby that he can name after himself, beer, pornography, a small bag of cocaine and enough building materials to build a small temple of worship.

Sorry to hear about your pain.

I could invent a new product for the CBA - a Ducati / home loan product!

And THAT ladies and gentlemen is why I do the work myself!!
(Its my Scottish ancestry speaking, )

Some shops operate on the premise that because its an "elite" European bike the sky is the limit for servicing charges.

F***ing steep!

Did you get a breakdown on the costs

Service prices here should give you a rough idea

That's also why I'm a DIY guy but when it's service during a warranty period , I think your stuck with having to use an "approved service centre"

Re: How much for a 10k service

I'll go against what everyone else is saying, and say that that's about what I would expect to pay for a 10,000km service + a rear tyre if I were to go to an authorised Ducati Dealer. Back when I made that mistake (early 2000) there was a "standard charge" which ran to somethng like $800 for a 10,000 and $1000 for a 20,000 service on a 2 valve Monster. 7 or 8 years of inflation and ~$300 for a rear tyre makes ~$1300 sound believable.

The mistake here is expecting competitive prices from authorised dealers. You'll _always_ get the service done something between 10% to 30% or more cheaper at places like Flywheels or Gowies. (and personally I'd prefer Ron or Rob at Flywheels or Mike at Gowies to be doing or at least managing the work on my bike than anyone at Frasers...)

So Pawnee? Where'd you get it done? My gut feel is that you paid normal "lets charge the Ducati owner the full price and not offer any discount" rates, but didn't pay anything inexplicably expensive...
