Re: midwest represent.

We are a bit more Portland than Salem... but Salem is like 30 minutes from us... so you can join us any time.. and any of our rides heading out that way.... we will let you know... just watch the posts. Welcome aboard.

Re: midwest represent.

I'm a Salem native. Off road riding mostly consists of driving to either Falls City or Scotts Mills, if you like the dirty mountain crap. If you're a sand junkie like me, there are plenty of dunes on the coast, and some in central Oregon. It's also good dirt riding out there in the Oregon Outback.

Any direction out of town will get you good twisty roads to get lost on. I'm working in Alaska through August but will be squeezing in as much riding as I can when I return before all of the liquid sunshine and freezing temperatures start. If trends continue, weather oughta be decent until November. This last year was badass in that regard.

Pork. It's worth going to hell over.

Re: midwest represent.

Haha, much better riding weather here!

I'm a Portland native who was exiled to Iowa for a couple years. That blew.

It's rainy here in winter, but if you're cool with riding in the rain, the riding is basically year-round. If you're fair-weather like me, there's usually at least one or two good days every month where the roads dry off and you can squeeze in a ride.

Can't speak to the dirt riding.

Anyway, welcome to the board! I'm sure we'll make another run to Detroit Lake this year, and that shouldn't be too far outta the way for you.

So you moving to Salem proper, or one of the northern 'burbs like Keizer?

Re: midwest represent.

It isn't so large that you can't live wherever you want/have to. Keizer, the northern suburb is pretty quiet and almost completely decent to live in. I'd stay away from anywhere on Lancaster Rd. and anywhere east of it entirely. The center of town is pretty rustic and neat. South and West Salem are good picks as well. Any particular reason you're headed this way?

Pork. It's worth going to hell over.
