Shorai bateries have their own charging adapter that conects in the middle of the terminals. This is recommended since lithium bateries are not compatible with all the regular lead/acid chargers so it's safer to use a dedicated one.
From the Shorai site: "Typical motorcycle charging systems range from 13.7V to 14.8V output voltage. Shorai LFX 12v series require a minimum charging voltage 13.1V or higher at idle, and must not exceed 15.2V charge maximum."
I didn't bought the shorai charger so I will check the voltages in my Ducati battery tender and see if I can safely keep it charged with it (I think it might not get up to 13V but not sure) So, you might also get away with the solution Bono proposed if you already have the SAE to battery terminal cable if your charger/tender comply with the voltages mentioned above.
If you buy the shorai charger you can just run the cable like Bono did.

Although my dealer already had the bike's battery cable setup for me when I picked it up
the instalation is very simple ( you can see the black cable on the frame ) ..... just get a couple of cable connectors .... direct to the battery
positive and negative ends .... and voila...your are connected.
Hope this help ...

|Nomad||I've just installed a Shorai in my 1200s since my OEM battery died due to excessive use... It is smaller than the OEM, it even comes with some foamy stickers so it doesn't wiggle in the battery housing. I didn't got the charger, but I know it has a special conector to the batter body not the terminals. I think it should fit in there, you just need to make a small adjustment to the upper cover of the battery housing and find a good place to leave the other end of the charger plug so it doesn't get wet if you happend to find some rain while riding.|

Does anyone run the shorai battery in their 1200s? I store my bike for the winter and read that the charge cable connects direct to the battery and not the terminals, wondering if there is enough room in the batt box to leave the cable connected and run it to the outside like a pigtail charger.
