00 change to 99 Front Mudguard change / Help

Hi Everyone.
My '00 600 Dark Monster was in a n accident and I had to replace the tank.
I was lucky to get a 99 Red 900 Monster donar tank, front fender and seat and bikini fairing @ a very respected price.
I have been able to get the tank and seat to fit, with minor adjustments to the seat and tank brackets. The seat is going in to recovered tomorrow(Red/Black)
I am however having a problem with the front fender, the 2000 fender shape is the same as that of the 99 fender. The fender "attachment arms" is however half the lenth on the 99 fender, hence not a standard fit.
Has anyone been able to fit the fender without major adjustments. I am considering making a stainless-steel or aliminium bracket that will allow me to attach the new fender to the existing brackets. Other advise would be appreciated.
The Fairing has also been attached directly to the front headlight. I have however noticed that the fairing is a bit flimsy, hence I added a bracket from the headlight main bolt to the top of the fairing where the fibre-glass fits onto the fairing. Any advise what can be done since the fairing still appears a bit flimsy, not as bad as before.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, T4W
