gusto112 What is people's thoughts of this latest monster vs the streetfighter s? They appear to be close in specs so my question is which is the better one to get. I just ask because I can buy a used streetfighter s for $8000 and the 1200 R looks like it will be $18900. If they are that close in performance it would only make sense to buy the cheaper one.
Any Thoughts...

rz33v4 Note that the 1200/1200s models have 1.2" more wheelbase than the 821. It's not just the difference between SSSA and a dual-sided arm.

I really like these bikes and need to ride one. Water pumpers are better for emissions and the way all the mfgs. are going. We're all going to be seeing a lot of plumbing on most all bikes! Also, I like the way they brought the wheelbase out a bit. Have the 696 now, but would like something just a bit less darty in handling.

rz33v4 Yoyodyne for the spring (which worked great and saved 1 1/2 lbs), but I can't remember on the rotor.

bshinn That's tempting but I don't think I could justify the cost. Who was the supplier for the spring & rotor?

rz33v4 I bought cast magnesium Marchesinis (when they were still available), but my front rotors were stock Brembos. I did, however, use a titanium rear brake rotor (I don't use the rear brake much) and a Ti rear shock spring.

bshinn This one is staying road legal, so I don't anticipate much more weight loss except for the wheels. Club president put a set of Carrozzeria V-Tracks and aluminum carrier rotors on his 1000SS and dropped 10#. I get that done I can see 350-360lbs with 1/2 tanks of fuel.

rz33v4 When all was said and done I took 50# off my 900SS, but it wasn't easy and it cost some bucks to do it. I'd include some pictures, but this website won't let me go over 19.5Kb for an attachment and mine are larger than that.

How would I know this? I had a Ducati 750 race bike at about 85 HP and 325# and built an SS 944 street bike with 95 RWHP and 360# with all fluids except fuel. When all is said and done, however, my MV F3 675 is faster and handles better.

1000DS out of an S2R.

I haven't weighed it lately, but I have documented 36lbs that I have taken off, and it's still on the heavy 3 spoke Brembos. If Ducati was anywhere near honest with their published curb weight that puts me in the 360# range now.

350# is a lofty goal I know, and I have my doubts about reaching it with the cash I'm willing to spend, but 100+ RWHP is by no means out of reach with a 1000DS staying within my budget.

Still should be a helluva lot of fun when it's finished.
