Man that sucks so much..... I do hope you find it.

Even though your heart is broken, can you please share the details of the theft with the board so other members can learn from the experience? Was it at home, in a parking lot, was it secured at all? And could you tell us what you would have done differently now that you've been through it? I am always paranoid of turning my back on my Ducati's.

Sorry to hear DD... hate reading these posts. I'll definitely keep my eyes open for it on the streets of LA/SFV.

Ducati's are not stolen that often because they are hard to steal and difficult to sell. But when they do sell, they sell well. THe electronics are tricky and the engine immobilizer works well.

here's a good read for us all:

read up guys, sorry for your loss OP

It was under my gazebo in the side yard, not secured that day, nor insured this month as I was shopping for different insurance... somewhat of a perfect storm of suck... hehe... keep the shiny side up, cheers!

Staying positive! I think I'll find it even if it's moths away...

Ugh! Sometimes the world just needs someone, anyone, to kick in the nutz. Sounds like it was your turn. Feeling for you brother and hoping for the best.

Drumonster_Dyami 07-14-2012 03:54 PM

Thanks you guys, nutz are begining to recover... please keep posting in this thread, you're the target audience for this high-end bike/ these high-end parts... if it's in pieces it's a good chance some will end up here... It takes a community to return swift nut kicks back to these idiots... Thanks and it's really nice to have a long lasting close nit forum like this around, keep the shiny side up :)

Still no word, fingers crossed tho...

You seem to really think it's coming home soon. Would this lead me to believe you might think you know who took it?

It does seem odd that it was taken from your gazebo in the side yard, I'm guessing that means it isn't really that visible? So do you think it was an acquaintance, a neighbor, a friend of a friend? I had 3 motorcycles stolen from me years ago, we recovered 2 of them 3 weeks later. I prosecuted. A friend went to look at a rare Vespa that he only knew of 1 in town that matched the description of the ad, the problem is that owner was out of the country for 3 months. My friend was there to look for a stolen scooter. Not only did he find the scooter, turns out he found 2 of my bikes as well. After the cops showed up, the seller admitted to buying the bikes from some kids up the street from him. The cops went over and found 40 some bikes in their shed. They had a buyer that would buy all of them at once and ship them to Mexico.

It turned out that one of my neighbors hooked them up with a peek at my collection and called them when I left one night.

Hmmm... thanks for the info... I too think it must be someone who lives near me, but I think they knew a guy who knew some guys that would take it or something... Who knows, I still think it'll find it's way home sooner or later...
In the mean time I'd like to find a sweet S4RS to tide me over ;)

Whew! Reminds me of when I was in high school and some idiot I knew stole my friend's Honda Spree then rode it to school the next day after spray painting it black. Morons. Good thing sometimes tho...

caferacermike 07-17-2012 08:21 PM

I called "neighbor" in post #11.

Awesome news.

NOW GET SOME INSURANCE!

Please tell us you are prosecuting.

Drumonster_Dyami 07-17-2012 08:50 PM

I have no idea who it is! The manager of an old folks home googled the license before he was going to tow it and it popped up stolen so he called the cops who called me... The cops didn't wipe for prints or even take the two belts wrapped around the frame as evidence.... but I'm not complaining... It's literally staying in my Living room for a month, while I get insurance and a Low Jack device... Whew!

Drumonster_Dyami 07-17-2012 08:51 PM

Now to figure out how to open the key hole up and fix what ever is jammed in there...
