High idle on Monster 1100 EVO

So, I have 2600 miles on my Monster 1100 EVO and I've noticed that it sticks at a high idle lately as I come to a stop light. It will idle at around 2000 rpms for 5-10 seconds after I come to a stop clutch in, transmission in gear or in neutral, clutch out.

Yes, and the bike is bone stock.

check for vacuum leaks, did you remove the charcoal canister? Best thing to do is have the dealer check it out under warranty.

Could be a slightly pinched throttle cable.

I just put on the termi exhaust and i actually began to notice it as well due to the increased volume. could it be the lightened flywheel?

My unmodified '12 1100evo does the same thing. It does mimic a vacuum leak, but my dealer could find no leak and says it is the ecu leaning it out, just "the nature of the beast (monster)". Mine is inconsistent, which I guess supports his theory. It usually happens above 4 bars on the temp gauge and over 80f ambient temp, but only occasionally. It does seem to happen more frequently as the temp climbs, but still not often. A vacuum leak could be temp dependant, but would likely be more consistent. Dealer says he found no sign of throttle cable binding, and it does not feel like that to me.

Could be the idle air control valve sticking slightly open.

Dealer said that's not normal and to bring it in. Great...so I'm riding it over tomorrow to have them look at it. Luckily they can squeeze me in.

When I had the same issue, it took them four months to get the part. Good luck.
